adult training

"Keeping myself trained makes me more confident that I can anticipate the unexpected."
Erik, Troop 119 Adult Leader

We encourage every adult to take the BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT), regardless of whether or not you decide to take a leadership role or not.  It provides important information about how BSA and Troop leaders ensure the protection of our Scouts and is required for any adult that will be accompanying the troop on trips or at summer camp.

Outside of Youth Protection, there is a huge variety of valuable training available for adults interested in taking an active role in the troop.  Courses (both live and online) are given all year in topics like First Aid, Safe Swimming, Hazardous Weather Safety and a variety of outdoor and Scout-specific leadership skills.

Some troop positions (like Committee member, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster) have training requirements, although training is available to any interested troop parent.  Please contact the training coordinator or visit MyScouting.org (registration required) to learn more about training opportunities.
