the scout oath and law

At the start of every Scout meeting, and at every Board of Review, Scouts are asked to recite the Scout Oath, the Scout Law and the Outdoor code.  Throughout Scouting, you will be asked to not just recite but to reflect and live by the principles outlined in these core commitments.

Scout Oath
On my honor
I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight

Scout Law
A Scout is ...
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
and Reverent.

Outdoor Code
As an American
I will do my best
To be clean in my outdoor manners
To be careful with fire
To be considerate in the outdoors
And be conservation minded
ower (Reverent)
