Family support

Picture
Parental Participation
While our troop is scout-led, it can only function with the help of many adult volunteers.

You can support the troop by:

  • Driving to activities and events
  • Coordinating camping trips or other troop programs
  • Joining us on camping trips or at summer camp
  • Helping organize and maintain troop equipment
  • Becoming a merit badge councilor or running merit badge classes
  • Organizing food for boards of honor ceremonies
  • Helping with fundraisers

Many parents share how their experience with scouting brought them closer to their children – and their troop adventures have led to many lifelong friendships with the parents and adult leaders they met along the way.

Please step up and help so that our Scouts can continue to thrive. For volunteer opportunities, contact Jack Showalter, Troop 119 Committee Chair, at jackshowaltertroop119@gmail.com.

Adult Training
Our Scouts deserve trained leaders. There are a variety of different training courses offered by Scouting. All Adults working with Scouts need to complete Youth Protection Training (see YPT and many other online courses at my.scouting.org). There are targeted courses (such as CPR Training) which are offered periodically. The second Wednesday of every month our district holds “roundtable” discussions on different Scouting topics at St. Brigid’s Church in Lexington.
